Title | A Question-Answer System on Health Data Standards |
Business Challenge Description | SNOMED CT is a queryable ontology which indexes standardized medical terminologies such as conditions, bodyparts, symptoms, drugs, procedures, techniques, severity, etc. UMLS provides medical taxonomies in terms of metathesaurus, lexical tools, and semantic networks. UMLS allows the data to be loaded to a relational database for querying. RxNorm provides a standardized list of drug names against the syntactic variations. When these taxonomies are combined, a queryable medical knowledge base could be constructed, with which, a Question-Answer system should be constructed.
Combining the taxonomies to a queryable medical knowledge base is one part of the expected solution. The 2nd part of the solution is to create a natural language interface that allows an user to type a query in English to seek an answer from the knowledge base.. |
Expected Business Solution | A web interface that accepts a question in natural English language from an user. The QA system should understand the question for semantics and use the underlying UMLS/SNOMED/RxNorm knowledge base to find the best answer(s) rank ordered by relevance or significance. |
Tools & Technology | Apache cTAKES is a powerful platform that integrates well with the UMLS for developing software applications for medical language processing. |

Title | Video Timestamp Generator |
Business Challenge Description | Video hosting websites like YouTube have become increasingly popular as both a form of education and
entertainment. For the former, learners using the platform can be inundated with options from various
publishers that match their search query, often returning videos longer than 15 minutes. In some videos,
there is an infographic that displays the video timestamps for when certain topics are covered by the
content creator. As a learner, parsing through large lists of seemingly helpful videos without the
timestamps for specific topics can quickly become overwhelming, especially when time is of the essence.
An example of the timestamp infographic for a Networking Video can be found on the next page. Design a solution such that given a URL for a YouTube video, a text file is returned containing the Timestamps and Topics for any start of a new topic. |
Expected Business Solution | The application should be implemented as either a Web Application or Desktop Application
(Desktop App need not be compatible with all OS).
Parse the audio from any YouTube video using OpenCV (or another library of your choice) Using a sentiment analysis library of your choice, determine which sentences in the video which are indicative of a new topic and which are supporting a topic. Gather the timestamps from when the new topics are introduced into the video and write them to a file in chronological order. |
Tools & Technology | You are free to use whichever languages or tools that are available to you but note that the OpenCV library is only usable with C++ |

Title | Physical Representation of Market Performance for ALGO Cryptocurrency |
Business Challenge Description | IoT faces identity, security, and interoperability problems. The majority of current systems rely on centralized client-server models that will soon be rendered obsolete due to the increasingly rapid rate at which devices are connecting to the Internet. Blockchain offers a solution as a shared, distributed, and decentralized ledger that allows development of decentralized applications to run at optimized thresholds. As a result new systems need to be modular and robust to maintain their competitive advantage. They should consist of a smart contract, web interface, sensors, and decentralized data infrastructure that relies on on-chain data to trigger real world events. Users and entities can register devices within a smart contract and then subsequently control information via a web interface. Devices sign messages using private keys which are sent to the platform along with control information and associated proof. Received messages are validated using blockchain, which at the end provides authentication, integrity and nonrepudiation. |
Expected Business Solution |
It is expected that the solution includes the following components: 1. Implementation of a blockchain specific on-chain application 2. Analysis of the value added to the application as a result of decentralization and utilization of the blockchain 3. Deployment and real time information input or output by internet-connected devices (IoT) 4. Solutions for interfacing with and initiating on-chain events 5. Visualization interfaces to better analyze and understand these events While we are not expecting fully functional or fleshed out deliverables for each of the components listed above, the most successful solutions will be those that coherently and convincingly deploy blockchain technologies via IoT devices or solutions. |

Title | Using Gamification for Community engagement |
Business Challenge Description | Since the engagement of the posts happens on Facebook Group itself and Facebook shares very limited data via its API (only posts and comments and no personal identified information), there is no way for Brand to track actions users took after engaging with its post on the Group. Ideally, the Brand would like to know that if there are 50,000 members in a group where it did a post, how many people out of the 50,000 subsequently visited its website or went to see its products. Ideally, if there is a way for an Admin to engage its community members outside of the platform such as on Convosight.com through a gamified journey, it is then possible for Convosight to track final numbers of users who engaged with the Brand sponsored posts allowing them to calculate ROI. The gamification journey can start from a community post done by the Admin and end on Convosight’s website, where a final number of unique users can be given a special offering by the Brand to measure cost of customer acquisition. |
Expected Business Solution | Ideate on how can a Facebook Community Admin engage with its customers outside of the FB Group’s
platform. For example running a Brand Survey on Convosight.com with a discounted purchase could be
one such Journey. We are looking for solid ideas with step by step guide on how they would each work
and the gamification built into it. Rember, the Admin would have to engage its members outside of the
Facebook Group platform on a gamified journey.

Examine each product and short list the ones that could meet the requirement, specifically the ability to take as input an existing floorplan design via a DWG file. 3. Understand ease of use, both to upload DWG files and to run the virtual walkthroughs. 4. Run tests by loading up the sample DWG files and observing the outputs. 5. Sample DWG files will have both the 2D floorplans and the outside wall elevations. 6. Understand design add-on or change capability e.g. for adding virtual furniture. 7. Understand costs for using the software, both purchase and license options. 8. Prepare a report or a presentation showing the findings. |
Expected Business Solution | A solution can be found with a vendor that is willing to engage in detailed conversations leading up to a service or purchase contract. The shortlist should have 4 or 5 solutions, but in case of issues locating solutions, a minimum of 3 options is needed. Solutions can be sourced from any country, if the language of use is English. |

Evaluation |
1. Care and attention paid by the project team in ensuring an accurate pick up of the 2D design
to obtain a faithful 3D virtual replica of the house, including all dimensions, proportions,
location of doors, windows, inside walls, stairs and fitted units. 2. Comprehensive analysis of implementation cost. 3. Highlighting of the challenges or issues in setting up the solution or using it. |

Title | Bringing Foreign Exchange Markets onto Blockchains |
Business Challenge Description | Today the main participants in FX markets are large multinational banks, who often tend to act
as intermediaries on behalf of speculators, buyers/sellers, and other actors. By placing
themselves in the middle they can effectively price gouge, collude, and otherwise extract
exorbitant fees from others that require currency trades and delivery.
Because FX trading takes place over multiple markets there are also price inefficiencies and arbitrage opportunities to be captured, some of which could be potentially mitigated by reflecting aggregated market price data on a “decentralized exchange” built on top of a blockchain platform. The problems to be addressed in this challenge are multi-faceted: 1. How to create a level playing field for assessing FX rates in a p2p fashion 2. How to reduce information asymmetries amongst participants and across markets 3. How to reflect external price data onto decentralized orderbooks built on blockchain platforms 4. How to facilitate trust and reliability in the issuance and settlement of the traded assets on the blockchain |
Expected Business Solution | It is expected that the solution includes the following components:
1. Mapping out of the value flows in existing global FX markets 2. Analysis of average spreads across currency pairs of interest, by volume (tip: consider why G20 currencies trade with much tighter spreads than exotics) 3. Methods for creating transparency and trust in issued fiat currencies and other assets onto blockchain networks 4. Methods for tying market data and other sources of liquidity to orderbooks available on various blockchain networks 5. Solutions for interfacing and initiating transactions across networks While we are not expecting fully functional or fleshed out deliverables for each of the components listed above, the most successful solutions will be those that coherently and convincingly outline touchpoints and technology required to bring pieces of the existing FX markets onto blockchain platforms. |
Tools & Technology |
1. Block explorers such as AlgoExplorer: https://algoexplorer.io 2. FX markets data from providers like: https://www.oanda.com/fx-for-business/historical-rates 3. Wallet and blockchain SDKs to pull and submit network data |

Title | On Demand Market Research of Emerging Engineering Trends |
Business Challenge Description | Scientific/engineering discoveries become industry and mega trends following a path similar to this: The Scientific / engineering discoveries are made in R&D groups at academic institutions, government agencies or private companies -> promotion of the discovery & market opportunity by their innovators, thought leaders, early investors, etc. -> technical breakthroughs to make the discoveries viable -> substantial investment flows by market players & strategic alignment of their businesses to harness the value of those discoveries. There is lot of information in social media chatter, industrial magazines, company presentations, their SEC reports, etc. Today, we have to buy reports from consulting companies specialized in market research. The problem is that these reports are expensive, available for only certain technologies / industry trends, and are created / updated only periodically. |
Expected Business Solution | Create a web platform/service that mines the internet, aggregates the information pieces based on relevant & popularity, and presents this information on-demand in a consumable form. For example, I input in “hybrid propulsion” or “hydrogen as a fuel”, an information map on items such as centers of engineering activity, key influencers (people, companies), investment activity, etc. is created on the fly. |
Tools & Technology | Any Open Source tool can be used. |
